Polyester filament yarn
Polyester filament yarn is made of long continuous polyester fibres. It is sold as POY (partially oriented yarn, the base for texturising), FDY (fully drawn, smooth and lustrous) and DTY (draw textured, crimped for stretch and bulk). We supply all three, along with bi-shrinkage yarn, to weavers and knitters.
Supplied from Surat by Win Star Industries, in the market since 1990.

DTY: draw textured yarn
DTY is POY that has been drawn and false-twist textured, so it has crimp, bulk and some stretch. It is the workhorse of Surat's weaving: sarees, dress material, linings and knits. We carry semi-dull (SD) and bright (BRT) DTY in high, semi and non intermingle (HIM, SIM, NIM), for example 75/36 SD, 170/96 SD HIM and 450/864 SD HIM.
FDY: fully drawn yarn
FDY is drawn fully at the spinning stage. It is smooth, strong and lustrous, used for satin, linings, ribbons and embroidery grounds. Super bright and black dope-dyed qualities such as 50/36 super bright black are among those we supply.
POY and BSY
POY (for example 120/36 and 162/72 bright POY) goes to texturisers and twisters. Bi-shrinkage yarn (BSY), such as 60/48 cationic dyeable BSY and 80/48 super bright BSY, combines filaments that shrink differently, for a fuller, softer fabric.
