Crape yarn

Crape yarn is polyester filament yarn given a very high twist, so that the woven fabric shrinks and puckers into the grainy, matt crepe or georgette surface. We twist it ourselves at our factory in Kim, near Surat, and supply it to weavers on cones.

Regulars: 50/48 SD crape, 75/72 SD crape. Other deniers and twist to order.

Air-textured yarn

Air-textured yarn, or ATY (often called Airtex in Surat), is filament yarn blown through a jet of compressed air so that its filaments form tiny loops and tangles. The result looks and feels more like spun yarn, with more bulk and cover, but keeps the strength of filament. We make it at our factory in Kim.

Regulars around 60 to 110 denier; 110 denier is our everyday quality.

Surat has woven for centuries

Its brocades, zari and silks went out from the port long before power looms. Today it is India's largest centre for synthetic fabric, and since 1990 we have supplied its looms with yarn.

Being in the market this long means we know the counts weavers ask for, the qualities that run well on their looms, and how the market moves through a season.
