How to write a yarn enquiry
Give the yarn type, the count, the lustre, the intermingle or twist, the colour, the quantity in kilograms or cartons, and where and when you need it. With those seven things a supplier can tell you the price and the date in one reply.

The yarn
Type and count first: for example 75/36 SD DTY, 50/48 SD crape, 110 denier ATY or 2/24 viscose. Add the lustre (SD, BRT, SBRT) if it is not in the count.
How it is made
For filament, say the intermingle (HIM, SIM, NIM). For crape, the twist in turns per metre and S or Z. For colour, raw white or dope dyed and the shade.
How much and how packed
The quantity in kilograms or cartons, and any cone weight or packing you need.
Where and when
The delivery place and the date you need it by. If it is a repeat order, quote the earlier bill or lot so we can match it.
